I ordered two pairs in two sizes for my 4 and 6 year old daughters. Upon reading reviews that said to order a size up, I decided to order a size and a half up to give some growing room since I don’t want to re-buy these in six months. I got the wide size and I think they’re still about the width of a “regular” shoe – although I typically buy wide for their everyday shoes.Naturally, a size and a half is a bit long for them, but I just have them wear thick plushy socks, which works well because the shoes look like the “breaking in” process would be uncomfortable. So, while the shoes get broken in, they can wear thicker socks and when their feet grow, I’ll give them thinner socks to wear with the shoes. The shoes look nice. I’m not a tap expert, but they sound good to me. My 4 year old was a little skeptical about the tapping sounds upon first trying them on, but she tends to be cautious with new experiences, then follows my 6 year old on whatever they’re doing. I’m sure she’ll get used to it and enjoy it.

My daughter has a normal sized foot (not wide, not narrow) and her toes run kind of straight across the top. They do not taper upwards. Her street shoe size is a 10. We ordered this tap shoe in an 11W and it fits her nicely – almost perfectly. She has a slight amount of room at the toes – maybe a half size. Most reviewers tell you this and I’ll say it too – these shoes definitely run narrow! If I had ordered these in a regular size, my child would have never gotten her foot inside of it!! They look lovely and the bow is adorable. I was worried about it not staying tied but so far that has not been an issue. I’ve attached a picture of the tap shoe against a size 10 Sketchers play shoe for reference.

My daughter is 3.5 yrs old. Her foot is 6.2 inches from big toe to heel. I purchased the black patenleather tap shoes in size “9.5 big kids”. The shoes fit her perfectly with about a 20cm of growing room. The shoe is very narrow. So are my daughters feet. The “wide”” is not wide. She normally wears an 8 in toddler size shoes. These shoes are beautiful and excellent quality.

So, I read the reviews and ordered a whole size up… Shouldn’t have done that. First, the shoes I received are NOT narrow at all. They are average. It makes me wonder if others accidentally ordered the wrong size. My daughter has a 7.25″ foot that runs regular to narrow. I bought her school shoes in 13.5 regular width this year. I should have gotten a 13.5 in these as well instead of a size 1. They still would have been plenty big. All the reviews said they ran narrow, but the shoe I got is a decent width for regulars. They seem a decent quality with nice laces. We have to put thick socks on with them and tie them snug so that her foot doesn’t slip around. If I could have found the color locally I would rather have bought them at the store so she could have tried them on.

Got into a waitlisted ballet and tap combo with only 3 days to spare, so I had to get dance shoes quick. Ballet I knew how to order, but tap is harder having to consider that shoes should fit well and not slip. Also, patent leather is stiff compared to the soft ballet shoes. Even though we love Bloch ballet shoes, I went with capezio since that’s what I grew up with. I did not go off the sizing chart, instead I ordered half size up and in Wide. Both girls (just turned 6, and turning 4 next month) don’t have wide feet but are used to their toes having a little bit of wiggle room. Guess what, They fit perfectly well! And are so cute! They’re gonna have a blast tapping away in their first class tomorrow.
